Laura's New Years Resolution for 2012

Now that I have resolved to only purchase two items a month (of course this doesn't mean necessities such as an eye liner pencil or new mascara) the items I pick must be great. No, wait a minute. They must be FABULOUS! This will require some research. (FUN!) I will write a blog post about them on the 20th of every month and explain why I chose them. What are some of your New Years Resolutions for 2012? I would love to know your plans for the FABULOUS year ahead!

Fantastic idea!

Time and time again, behavioral studies have proven that men purchase by the 'decade' and they purchase using common sense; like necessities (look at men's clothing versus women over the last 10 years; and today, pay attn to the # of men's choices in a given category like cardigans at Nordstrom.com...women will have 495 choices vs men's 45).

Gosh, we have far more choices because we let ourselves become attached quickly, we buy impulsively, and emotionally. At the end of the year, do we wear what we buy? Often times, no. Women want to be relevant. Women dress to compete with one another...go figure?

Women's advertising is amazingly accurate -- however, watch an NFL, NHL game or a golf match, the major advertisers are investment firms NOT clothiers. Why, because the target audience is men. We must change our behavior -- beginning this new year...

That said, I'm in as far as the 2 items per month purchases!

I have not purchased anything for January 2012! YIPPY! and we are already nearly 3 days in...smiles

Oh, Laura, great post, good point by fellow commenters, especially Mary Louise. I've already fallen victim and bought more than than the two items. But they are spring items I purchased for spring rather than to wear currently. So, I'm going to try to make that it for the month. I'm not counting the dress I have to purchase for my daughter's March wedding!

Laura, another thought -- I'll have to have a plan in order to stick with my New Year's Resolution of 2 purchases per month. So, I reviewed your "Wardrobe Essentials", and have made a list of what I need. But first, I will clean out my closets to make sure I don't buy duplicates...and go from there...

This is so much fun! Great idea!

I love this idea and will stick with you! I find that I am much happier with what I buy when I put time and thought into my purchases! We will end 2012 with some fabulous pieces and a more individualized personal style!
