Five Things to Try in 2013

2013 is right around the corner. Have you made your resolution(s) yet? I think we all have a few changes we would like to make. But sometimes we feel like making a resolution is scary. Trying to commit to something that you normally don't do can sometimes feel like you are just setting yourself up for failure. I am totally for anyone trying to get healthy in the new year, but make sure your resolution is attainable. Working out seven days a week sounds like a good idea, but is it realistic? Maybe committing to working out just three days a week would be a better idea. As for my new years resolutions.......I am still trying to decide what I want to accomplish in 2013. What I do know is what I want to try in 2013. Here are five things that I will take a stab at in the new year:

1. Try a new make-up technique.
Sometimes I get stuck in a make up rut. I have been plucking my brows for years now and as I age I seem to be having to pluck less! This is because as we age hair starts to thin. But now I am loving this bold and beautiful brow look! So I am going to try plucking less and feathering in some brown eye shadow on the brow area so make them appear thicker. I also sometimes think that as I get a little older that less is more. I am going to try only wearing eyeliner on my top lid and really concentrating on making my eyelashes look thicker on the outer ends to create that doe eye look. Maybe I will even give faux lashes a try.

2. Try something new on the nails. I am loving this racing stripe look. Very modern on a short nail, which is what I intend to keep.

3. Try wearing flats instead of heels. Of course support is important, so a comfy flat is the only way to go. I am just getting tired of seeing heels do the talking on ladies. The lady wearing heels tends intrigue us. But is the attention really on her, or the heels? Studies show that when a lady wears a flat she tends to be nicer. Hmmmm, probably because her feet don't hurt. Just a guess;) I am ready to let the real me shine through in 2013. Are you?
(Just kidding. There have been no studies on this subject, but my own)

4. Find a DYI that you must try. I found this pretty little DYI on Pinterest among a million others. I posted the directions below.
Try this. Take an old sweater. Cut a slit in along the shoulder down about 7". Fold over raw edge and sew in place. Sew a piece of ribbon about 15" long to one side of neckline and another ribbon to the other side of the neckline. Tie together!

5. Try reading a trilogy. For me it's going to be The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I just saw the movie and I am hooked! I adore Apocalyptic Literature.
