Aren't You "Gelish"?

I never used to pay much attention to my nails. In fact, they were usually the last thing I ever even thought about. I think that had something to do with handling my son when he was a baby. Well, he is 16 now and he still needs attention. Just not the kind of attention he used to need. So now I can pay just a little more attention to myself.

These days I am giving myself regular manicures. (about once a week) I truly feel like nail polish is the finishing touch to a great look. It's the icing on the cake. Or at least the sprinkles. You know what I mean. If I don't have polish on I feel like I am not complete. Even a clear polish is better than none at all.

But, lets face it. Doing your nails is a chore. It's really hard to set aside the time. You have to remove the old polish, soak your cuticles, push them back, trim and file your nails, put on a base coat, color and then a top coat. And then you have to sit and do nothing until they completely dry for about a half hour to forty five minutes! That part is the killer for me. I just can't seem to sit still!

Okay, so after all that I usually feel so good that I took the time to do my own manicure, because my nails look great! But only for about two days. I work retail, so I am always doing something with my hands. Once I pick up a bunch of pants hanging on a rack, there goes my manicure. The color begins to chip away and then I am back at square one. Just a tad frustrating.

Well, today my hair stylist Charlene introduced me to Gelish. Gelish is a gel polish that comes in an array of colors. You apply it like polish, with twist cap and applicator, but it is cured in a LED lamp in 30 seconds! Gelish stays on nails for three weeks with no chipping or peeling, and soaks completely off in only 15 minutes. You gotta love that!!
My only problem was trying to figure out what color I wanted. After looking through my Pinterest, I decided turquoise and gold were my favorite color combo of the moment!
Below are the photos I found on Pinterest for my inspiration.

Here is the result! Charlene painted just the tips with a little subtle gold sparkle. They look amazing and I won't have to give myself a mani every three days! Instead I can go three weeks! Charlene said that it really depends on how fast your nails grow. The polish won't come off. You will just see the growth. I decided that I would be ready to change the color in two weeks. So, of course I booked an appointment.

Below you will find a slide show of Charlene's Spa & Salon that she very appropriately named Nourish. This is where I love to relax.
