Nourish Your Closet and See It Flourish!

Purchasing fun pieces to add to your wardrobe is great! Just make sure you have a rhyme and a reason to what you are purchasing. What you want to do is nourish your closet. What you don't want to do is just add random pieces that don't really go with anything. If you do that, you will end up with a crazy mess and then you will be screaming "I don't have anything to wear!"

Here are my tiny tidbits of advice on purchasing new pieces that will nourish your closet:

1} When you are shopping sale racks, pretend that you are shopping full price. Don't just purchase something because it is inexpensive. Make every purchase a careful purchase.

2} When you find an item of interest, think about how many outfits you can make by coordinating what you already own with it. If you can't think of three outfits right off the top of your head, put it back.

3} Treat yourself to at least one new item a month. If you want to stay looking current you must add current pieces to your existing wardrobe.

5} Subscribe to at least one fashion magazine. Yes you can read information online about what's on trend, but there is just something special about flipping through the glossy pages of a fashion magazine. You can also cut a few inspirational pictures out and hang them in your closet to refer to while you are getting dressed.

6} Make sure to keep your closet organized so that you can see what you have. I like to organize by style, then by color within each style.

7}When you purchase something new that is similar to something you already have, take the older version out and donate it to charity. You know you will only be reaching for the new version now.

8} Don't forget the importance of accessories. Adding a new accessory once a month to your wardrobe can do your look a world of good. Just make sure that your accessory wardrobe doesn't get too overwhelming. Your jewelry, shoe and scarf collection can tend to get out of hand fast. Get a grip on it and donate a few pieces from time to time. You know what your favorite pieces are, keep those and donate those that have not been worn in months.

Well, that's pretty much all there is to nourishing your closet. If you follow these instructions you will begin to see it flourish!
